Application Overview

Purpose

  • This device is used to feed components on a conveyor and inspect the parts on a pass/fail basis. This visual inspection is done using a camera. The parts are then sorted into two sections of conforming or defective products.
  • Defective products are blown off the conveyor by an air nozzle located after the inspection camera.
  • Workpieces are loaded manually by an operator. The operator could increase or decrease the workpiece feed as required.

  • An automatic mechanism with a conveyer, camera, and air blower.

    • Select a proximity sensor that can detect a workpiece at a relatively long distance.
      Detection distance: 14mm±10%, distance setting: 0 - 11.2mm
  • Roller
    • Select rollers with urethane so as not to damage workpieces.

Other Design Consideration

  • The camera and LED lighting can be adjusted independently by a single axis stage.
  • Guides and rollers are provided to the charging chute to feed workpieces while they are added horizontally.
  • Determine the angle to feed workpieces at which the workpieces can be fed on the conveyer one by one by trial and error.
  • Check the emission of defective workpieces by blowing air works normal as intended by adjust nozzle and air pressure, through trail and error.
