Application Overview

Purpose

  • Measure expansion of resin rail submerged in warm water tank.

Points for use

  • Warm the tank water using heaters.
  • Resin rails mounted on the posts will be exposed to warm water (Approx. 50°C).
    The rails are fixed using clamps on the left, and the right side. Clamps hold the rails with some clearances considering rail expansion due to heat.
  • Resin rail expansions are measured in the following steps.
    ① Mount the rails and fix both sides on resin guide clamps before the water (20℃) is heated.
    ② Measure the workpiece from the right side of the resin clamp to the right ends of the workpieces.
    ③ With the workpiece mounted, turn ON the heater and heat the water in the tank to 50℃.
    ④ Measure in the same manner as ② (Take care not to get burned).

    • Heat capacity required for the heater (kW) = heated object's mass (kg) x specific heat of the heated object (kcal/kg℃) x temperature (℃) / (860 x heating time (h) x efficiency (η)
      = 90 × 1.00 × (50 - 20) / (860 × 1 × 0.5) = 6.3kW
      Since the electrical power of one MSHPWP4 is 4kW, two heaters are needed.
