Shovels and Pickaxes

Shovels and pickaxes are tools used to dig up hard soil and carry gravel and so on. Shovels are also called spades or scoops and are mainly used to dig up earth, sand, gravel and other soft soil. Pickaxes are used to break up hard soil, asphalt and so on. Most shovels and pickaxes are made of aluminum or steel. Stainless steel products are rust-resistant and durable. Shovels have a blade with a flat or pointed tip and foot-rests at the top, and pickaxes have a T-shaped head with sharp edges that can break up hard ground by hammering it. Both shovels and pickaxes are often used for civil engineering work and mining, and their portable size allows for frequent use.
