Programmable Logic

Programmable logic is an electronic component that allows the user to change the necessary logic circuits and wiring on a control circuit board, etc. with a program. Programmable logic is suitable for all electronic device designs because it can shorten the time to market and reduce development cost. Types of programmable logic include PLDs, CPLDs and FPGAs. CPLDs have more gates than PLDs and multiple logic blocks. FPGAs allow the construction of larger logic circuits than CPLDs. Furthermore, the logic circuits can be changed after the product is shipped because the circuits are store in internal memory as data. PLDs and CPLDs support through-hole mounting and surface mounting, while FPGAs support surface mounting.
