A potentiometer is an electrical part that converts movement amounts or rotational angles to voltage. This device is used as a sensor for detecting the angle or position in applications such as a vehicle's power steering or tension control, the arm operation of machine tools or the control of a camera's zoom lens. The analog voltage can also be set. There are two main shape types. The rotary potentiometer detects the rotational angle and the linear potentiometer detects the position on a line.
