Voltage References

A voltage reference is an electrical component that stably outputs a constant voltage. It can output a constant value with high accuracy regardless of variations in power supply voltage and elements, ambient temperature and usage period, and is used in devices that need to operate with constant accuracy, such as data converters and switching-mode power supplies. It uses the feature of outputting a constant voltage irrespective of the current of the element or flowing a constant current irrespective of the voltage. Also, by combining elements with a positive temperature coefficient and a negative temperature coefficient, it is not affected by temperature. Voltage reference components can be classified into series type products and parallel type ones according to connection position, and a parallel type component is also called a shunt type component. There are also variable type products that adjust voltage by adjusting the resistance values.
