UNI SEIKI Squares
Machinist's squares are tools used for measuring angles and scribing. They are normally available in an L shape consisting of a long blade and a short blade, and the long blade has scales carved on both sides. A type with a thicker short blade is called a square with a base, and it enables scribing work with more stability by being hooked onto the material. In addition, there is an I-shaped straight edge that can inspect flatness, parallelism and straightness, and an angle scribing square that can measure 45 and 135 degrees and be used for scribing. Adjustable squares can have the angle changed freely by adjusting a locking screw, so they are useful for scribing repeatedly with the same angle. As for materials, stainless steel is used for the long blade to ensure the accuracy of the scales, and aluminum, brass and other rust-resistant materials are used for the short blade. Machinist's squares are available in a wide range of materials and configurations, so choose a product that suits the application.
