RIKEN KEISOKUKI Surface Plates
Surface plates are used as reference surfaces in assembly and inspection where absolutely flat surfaces are required. The base must be kept level when measuring in order to accurately calculate results. Surface plates make the surface of bases in cast iron with internal stress sufficiently relieved and are finished precisely in order to accomplish that. They are mainly used in precision machining and production worksites. Box-type surface plates with six faces machined can be used in a wide range of applications from assembly to inspection. Precision types have thickness and feature resistance to abrasion. Brown & Sharp types are used for scrape finishing. Stone surface plates have properties intrinsic of stone, so they are not affected by magnetism, and they are smooth because they are hard and fine-grained. They also do not dirty or scratch the item measured and are also resistant to rust. Their shape does not change with temperature changes, so they also feature high precision.
