ROHM Color Sensors

A color sensor is a sensor that detects the light emitted from the light emitting part with the light receiving part, and is a type of photoelectric sensor. It detects the amount of red, blue, and green light received, and calculates the ratio of the amount of received light to determine the object’s color and appearance. Even if there is a distance difference or inclination from the object, the object’s color can be detected. There are two types of color sensors, one that emits light of a wide wavelength and distinguishes the three colors at the light receiving unit, and the other type that emits and detects light of the three colors separately. Some of them automatically control the emission power, while others use the matching mode to reliably store the combination of mark and background color. It is used for color discrimination of metal workpieces, detection of registration marks printed on containers and packaging materials, etc. The color sensor is selected by checking the supply current, operating supply power, resolution, output, etc. of the place of use.
