ROHM Linear Regulators
Linear regulators provide stable voltage using a DC/DC converter. These devices are called linear regulators because input and output are aligned in a linear fashion. They use a system that reduces voltage by means of semiconductor devices, which means large voltage differences will impact efficiency. For this reason, they are mainly used for the power supply of low-power applications. While some linear regulator models support input voltages of up to 35 V, there are also models designed for low voltages within the range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V. Output voltages are generally lower than input voltages, and the difference is depleted as energy consumption. The advantage of using a linear regulator is that it increases the durability of batteries. Through-hole mount and surface mount types are available.
