Thumbtacks/Pins

Pushpins/pins are used to temporarily hold small items. Pushpins are used to temporarily put paper and so on a wall or corkboard. They have a metal, plastic or wooden head and a needle, and hold paper by being pushed into a wall or board. Double thumbtacks with a metal head are a commonly used type of pushpins. They are also used for tacking when tracing. Adhesive tacks are also useful when attaching posters and so on to concrete walls and other surfaces where a needle cannot penetrate. These are made of cross-linked polyethylene foam, which is resistant to heat, and rarely degenerate and come off even when used outdoors in a place exposed to direct sunlight. A common type of pin is safety pins. They have a locking mechanism to keep them from falling, and the lock is colored for ease of identification.
