Rotary Switches for Circuit Boards
A circuit board rotary switch is a switch that switches terminals by rotating it to turn the current/voltage on/off and switch the circuit connection. Switches for digital circuits are called DIP rotary switches. The terminals are arranged so as to surround the central part of the flat or circular body, and the knob that is the operation axis is usually located in the center. Some types do not have knobs and can be operated with a screwdriver. When you move the knob, the selection terminal connected to the common terminal changes and the circuit is switched. If you switch 360° around the knob every 30°, you can switch to multiple contacts by the number of terminals, such as 12 contacts, 6 contacts every 60°. It is mainly used for robots, various industrial equipment, and household equipment.
