Diodes（Family：ダイオ-ド、整流器-アレイ）

Diodes are components that direct the current in an electrical circuit into one direction. They control the electrical current and stabilize voltage. They prevent overvoltage and also convert wireless signals, such as radio signals, into sound. There are 2 types of diode configurations, PN junction and Schottky junction. A PN junction joins 2 semiconductors, and a Schottky junction combines a semiconductor with metal. Schottky types have become the standard for their energy-saving characteristics and high speed properties. Diodes were originally made using polycrystalline semiconductors such as iron pyrite and galena. They are now made with silicon or monocrystalline semiconductors for better sensitivity and stable construction. Available types include general-purpose rectifiers, bridge rectifiers, diode detectors, Zener (constant voltage) diodes, photodiodes, constant-current diodes, and more, and need to be selected according to application.
