Relief Valves

A relief valve is a device that discharges pressure and keeps it at a normal value so that the pressure in piping does not exceed a specified value. Also called a safety valve, it is used in the hydraulic circuits of drive equipment. It automatically releases the pressure caused by the fluid sent from the pump, and prevents problems such as rupture of piping, damage to peripheral devices and liquid leakage. The general mechanism is that a valve that is closed by the force of a spring opens when a pressure greater than the force of the spring is applied. The direct-acting type and the balance piston type are often used, while the direct-acting type has a relatively large structure with a large spring, and the balanced piston type has a small spring and is less likely to chatter. Some direct-acting products also have a structure that prevents chattering.
