Protective Equipment for Welding
Welding protective gear protects the body from heat, flames and sparks generated during welding and fusing work. There are different types for each body part to be protected, such as gloves, aprons and face protectors. Welding gloves are available in five-finger, three-finger, and two-finger styles, and have longer sleeves than normal gloves to prevent sparks and molten metal from entering the cuffs during welding. Similarly, face masks and hoods are made longer to protect the head. Available in sturdy canvas, cowhide resistant to heat and oil stains, and aluminum-coated to reflect radiant heat. Pike protective gears using a blended yarn of fire-resistant fiber that does not burn in air, and highly heat-resistant aramid fiber are characterized by being lighter than leather, soft, not hard and washable.
