Flaw Detecting Chemical
Dye penetrants are used for penetrant inspections to check for invisible scratches and penetration defects on metals and parts. Penetrant inspection is a type of non-destructive inspection, and is used for checking cracks and welding defects at welding points, abrasive cracks and quench cracks that are fatigue phenomena of metal materials, and leak inspection of tanks and boilers. There are types of dye penetrants such as cleaning liquid, penetrants, developing liquid, and spray type and liquid type. Cleaning liquid is used to remove dirt, dust, oil, fat, etc., to make it easier for the penetrating liquid to penetrate. There are two types of penetrants, dye penetrant and fluorescent penetrant, which penetrate the scratch using capillary action. Developing liquid floats the penetrant that had penetrated the scratch, enabling visual identification. Fluorescent penetrants illuminate by ultraviolet rays to emit a fluorescent color, and the damaged part is confirmed.
