Steel Containers
Steel containers are containers made of steel. They are available in a wide range of designs such as round, square, shallow, deep and covered. They are used in a wide range of areas to meet the needs of various applications. Examples range from storing machine parts or components, to serving as oil or paint containers, and storing drugs in hospitals. Containers draw-formed from a single sheet are strong, and their lack of seams eliminates the risk of leaking. Steel is an alloy made by adding carbon to iron. It has higher strength, heat resistance and other properties than iron. But since it oxidizes and corrodes if left untreated, surface-treated steel is used for making products. Plated steel containers are in widespread use. Plating examples include tinplate (tin plating) and highly corrosion-resistant zinc plating. Steel baskets are also available. They are steel containers with arrays of small holes punched into the walls. They are used mainly for storing oily parts or for draining oil.
