Photodiodes are photodetectors that convert light into electrical signals. It is used in a wide range of fields, such as light intensity measurement, optical signal detection, etc. Typical characteristics include high response speed and low noise, as well as compatibility with visible light to long wavelength. The smaller the dark current, the smaller the noise. In principle, it uses the photovoltaic effect and is classified into PN type, PIN type, etc. depending on the structure. The PN type has a P layer and an N layer, and the PIN type has a structure in which an I layer is sandwiched between a P layer and an N layer. The PIN type is characterized by a faster response speed and lower dark current than the PN type. The photodiode body generally comes with a window for capturing light, and is available in a vertical shape or a flat type. Mounting types include through-hole mounting types, surface mounting types, etc. which can be selected according to the application.
