Inductors

An inductor is a passive electronic part that stores electrical energy as magnetism. The inductor is a basic part of an electrical circuit, with roles such as current stabilization and voltage conversion. It is also called a "coil," because the wire is shaped into a coil. Inductors include a bar antenna and RF choke coil used in radios and wireless circuits; tuning or resonance coils used in audio and other circuits; and coils for the power supply used in power supply circuits. A transformer with two wires wrapped around a core is also a type of inductor. Another is a ferrite type made from a strong magnetic material. Materials such as cobalt and nickel are mixed with iron oxide and sintered, making it difficult to conduct electricity. A delay line has the role of delaying the transmission of an electrical signal.
