C-RED reducer from the Pramet tooling-system range by Dormer Pramet, for the PSC (Polygonal Shank Coupling) interface to ISO 26623. Model C4-RED.C3.055 lets C3-size polygon shank tools be used in a C4 spindle or clamping unit, with a length of 55 mm.
Applicable standard
ISO 26623: polygonal taper interface with flange contact surface. Part 1 covers the dimensions and designation of shanks, and Part 2 covers the receivers. The standard allows clamping either by segments engaging a circular groove or by a centre bolt, and torque is transmitted by the polygon form lock.

Usage notes
- Confirm that the machine spindle or clamping unit is size C4 and that the tool to be mounted has a C3 polygon shank.
- Clean the polygon taper and flange contact faces of the spindle, reducer and tool before clamping. Dirt or chips on these faces reduce accuracy and rigidity.
- Clamp and tighten according to the instructions and torque values of the machine or clamping-unit manufacturer.
- A reducer adds length between the spindle and the cutting edge. Keep the total overhang as short as possible to limit vibration.

The C-RED series are reducers in the Pramet tooling-system range of Dormer Pramet, for the PSC (Polygonal Shank Coupling) interface according to ISO 26623. A reducer fits between a larger PSC spindle or clamping unit and a smaller PSC tool, so tools with a smaller coupling size can be used without changing the machine interface.
Model C4-RED.C3.055 has a C4 polygon shank on the machine side and a C3 polygon receiver on the tool side. The 055 in the code indicates a length of 55 mm.

How to choose
