BARREL END MILL_S791

Caution
Product Description
Dormer S791 solid carbide barrel end mill. A large tangential form radius combined with a nose radius makes it suited to efficient 5-axis semi-finishing and finishing of curved and deep-wall surfaces. AlCrN coated, 3 or 4 flutes, Ø6–16 mm, DIN 6535 HA plain shank.
The Dormer S791 is a barrel-shaped solid carbide end mill for five-axis machining in die and mold and aerospace applications. A nose radius at the tip handles fillet milling. A large tangential form radius, from 75 mm to 95 mm depending on diameter, machines curved and deep-wall surfaces. The tool is intended for semi-finishing and finishing in steels, stainless steels, cast iron and super-alloys.
Features & Benefits
- The large tangential radius gives much more overlap between passes than a conventional ball nose end mill. More of the cutting edge contacts the workpiece, which extends tool life and shortens cycle time.
- Fewer passes are needed, which can cut machining time by more than 50%.
- The surface finish is better, so less polishing is needed afterwards.
- The tool keeps the benefits of a robust ball nose end mill. The nose radius can also be used like a general ball nose cutter.
- The AlCrN coating gives thermal stability, low friction and excellent wear resistance for long tool life.
- A positive rake angle gives a smooth cutting action in stainless steels and super-alloys and reduces the risk of work-hardening.
- The 3- and 4-flute designs are more productive than common 2-flute ball nose cutters.
- Micrograin carbide provides high hardness and wear resistance, which increases tool life in difficult materials.
Applications
- 5-axis semi-finishing and finishing of complex 3D surfaces
- Steep, angled and deep walls and curved surfaces
- Fillet areas, using the nose radius
- Copy milling and turn-milling
- Die and mold and aerospace components
