Product features and specifications
Basic specifications and features of the product
UN chipbreaker for aluminum alloy machining
Excellent chip control is achieved with a breaker shape that emphasizes sharpness and a sharp edge due to grinding of the periphery. Aluminum welding is prevented by smoothing the rake face.

Selection support information
Threaded insert selection points
Due to the characteristics of the drill, the closer to the center, the slower the cutting speed and the easier it is to bond, so please emphasize the following points when selecting a threaded insert.
For steel and cast iron.
For a chip breaker, select UM chip breaker.
For the purpose of high efficiency machining (high speed rotation), CVD coated carbide material with excellent abrasion resistance (steel: MC1020, cast iron: MC5020) is recommended as the outer blade, while PVD coated carbide material that has excellent chip-weld resistance (VP15TF) is recommended as the inner blade.
If the outer blade is easily damaged, use PVD coated carbide material (VP15TF) for both the outer and inner blades, placing importance on stability.
For stainless steel.
For the chip breaker, select a UM chip breaker for the outer blade and a US chip breaker with improved chip-weld resistance and wear resistance for the inner blade, then it demonstrates outstanding performance in stainless steel machining.
If you use a US chip breaker for the inner and outer blades, the original cutting performance may not be exhibited.
The choice of threaded insert material is the same as for steel.
For hardened steel and measures against defects.
Select UH chip breaker for the inner blade chip breaker.
The highly-resistant, strongly negative and wide land cutting edge, and high toughness PVD coated carbide material DP8020 are ideal for machining hardened steel (45HRC or less) and preventing steel and cast iron defects.
For machining aluminum alloys.
Select UN chip breaker for both inner and outer blades.
Chip welding is prevented by polishing the upper surface and grinding the outer circumference, and the combination of positive land and strong rake angle makes the blade shape more sharp.
