Product Description
[Features]
· The germanium monocrystals used in semiconductors, with low absorption in the 2-20 µm infrared wavelengths, can be used as optical elements with infrared light.
· A single lens made of this germanium crystal.
· It is used as a lens of a camera for observing infrared rays such as thermography.
· The appearance has a metallic luster which does not transmit light, but it will transmit a broad infrared region over 2-20 µm.
· Wavelengths 1.5 µm or less will not be transmitted, making it effective as a filter for infrared transmissions as well.
· Since it has a refractive index of 4 or greater, the curvature is more gentle than for a glass lens.
· Germanium is completely harmless to the human body, allowing it to be used safely.
· * Germanium lenses have a metallic luster that reflects and absorbs visible light, preventing transmittance.
· * Germanium lenses without an anti-reflective coat have loss due to surface reflection and thus have a transmittance of approximately 42%.
· * Effects of radiation spectra due to temperature need to be considered when measuring infrared wavelengths.
· * If the product is used in an environment of 30°C or more, infrared radiated light (near 9.6 μm) is emitted from every substance and infrared spectra cannot be observed correctly.
