· A cube type beam splitter in which reflectance and transmittance are divided into 1:2 or 1:3.
· Can be combined with a half-mirror to make 3-branch or 4-branch optical systems with equally distributed light.
· Because a dielectric multilayer is used, there is almost no light loss caused by film absorbency, so it branches light effectively.
· Because its polarization properties are lower than those of the cube type, light can be branched even when using a laser light source or a linearly polarized light source.
· As it is a plate type, it is possible to minimize wavelength dispersion and chromatic aberration induced when transmitting through the substrate and also reduce the weight.
· There are 2 types: a parallel plane type in which the beam does not refract and a wedge substrate type with little influence from ghosting or interference from back side reflections.
· Wedge type has an arrow mark pointing towards front surface at the thickest part.
· * When linearly polarized light such as laser light is used, reflectance and transmittance change depending on the polarization direction.
· * When adjusting branching ratio precisely, ensure the direction of polarization is set to 45 degrees or use circular polarization of light.
· * Optical path of the transmitted light may be shifted a few millimeters parallel from the incident light, depending on the refractive index and thickness of the substrate. (A beam amplitude of approximately 30 minutes is added to parallel displacement of the optical path for the wedge type)
· * Transmittance wavelength characteristics will change when used with an incident angle other than 45°.
· * Phase differences of incident light are not preserved in reflected light and transmitted light.
· * Use a wave plate for phase difference compensation.
