Structure and operating principle diagram

IFW5 Series structure and operating principle diagram
Operating Principle
When water flows, a differential pressure is generated before and after the orifice at the port of body 1. This differential pressure is detected by a pair of upper and lower diaphragms, rod 2 is displaced downward, operating lever 4 is lowered, and the micro switch is turned on.
If the flow rate is increased, the rod will be displaced downwards by 2, and if it is decreased, it will be displaced upwards. In addition, the adjustment gear 5 can be rotated and the gear 3 can be moved vertically to detect signals at any flow rate.

Notes
Mounting/wiring
- * 1Please mount the switch so as to align the arrow on the side of the body with the flow of fluid.
- * 2Always fill the flow path with liquid.
- * 3The mounting direction can be horizontal or vertical.
- * 4Before and after the pipe on which the product is mounted, a straight section that is 5 times or more the opening diameter of the pipe should be provided in order to keep away as far as possible from anything that disturbs the flow such as elbows and valves.
- * 5For wiring, refer to the above internal wiring diagram or catalog.
- * 6If there is no terminal box, select 1a or 1b as the contact for wiring. In that case, the unused lead wires requires to be insulated.
- * 7As it is an open type, it cannot be used in a place where water or oil is scattered.
- * 8It cannot be used when water hammer or pulsating pressure is applied to the fluid.
- * 9A filter of approximately 100 mesh on the inlet side of the flow switch should be installed to prevent malfunction and diaphragm damage due to dust and cutting chips in the fluid.
Adjustment
- * 1To set the flow rate, remove the grommet at the top of the cover and turn the flow rate adjustment gear with a straight-slot screwdriver. Turning it clockwise increases the set flow rate, and turning it counterclockwise decreases it.
- * 2The flow rate set point is the ON flow rate set point, so for the 1a contact, the ON signal is output when the flow rate exceeds the set flow rate.
- * 3In case of 1b contact, the ON signal is output when the flow rate decreases by hysteresis from the set flow rate.
- * 4To prevent chattering due to fluctuations in the operating flow rate, make the difference between the set flow rate and the operating flow rate as large as possible.
- * 5Use below the maximum operating pressure and flow rate.
- * 6The scale on the window name plate is a standard. For precise settings, please mount a flow meter to the outlet side of the flow rate switch. When setting a low flow rate when using at a pressure of 0.2 MPa or more, the indicator needle and scale plate may interfere. In this case, remove the indicator needle and scale plate and set. After setting, attach the indicator needle and scale plate at any positions.
Additional Precautions
- *See the SMC catalog for information other than that detailed above.
- *Product pictures are representative images.
