The valve body is globe-shaped, with the center line of the inlet and outlet in a straight line, resulting in an S-shaped flow of fluid.
When the flow direction changes, the passage rapidly expands and contracts, causing significant pressure loss as the fluid passes through the valve; however, it offers excellent shutoff performance and ease of flow rate control.
This shutoff and flow rate control are performed by a component called the valve element. A needle valve has a needle-shaped valve element, allowing for fine adjustment of the flow rate.
