Cautions and Prohibitions of OMRON Contact Switches
- The Contact Switches Do not forcibly bend or pull the cord. Also, do not place heavy objects on it or heat it. This may damage the cord and cause a fire.
- Do not disassemble or modify this device, as this may result in injury or electric shock, and may also damage the internal circuitry.
OMRON Contact Switches Safety Precautions
The Contact Switches following items are necessary to ensure safety, so please be sure to follow them.
(1) Installation environment
- The Contact Switches Do not use in environments with flammable or explosive gases.
- To ensure safety during operation and maintenance, install the unit away from high voltage equipment and power equipment.
(2) Power supply and wiring
- Be sure to use the dedicated amplifier unit (E9NC-TA□□). Connecting to a different amplifier unit may cause damage or fire.
- If you short-circuit the cord, reconnect it as specified. Incorrect connection may cause damage or fire.
- Please keep the wiring for high voltage lines, power lines and this product separate. If they are wired together or in the same duct, they may be subjected to induction, which may result in malfunction or damage.
- Contact Switches Always turn off the power before connecting or disconnecting the connector.
- To prevent the cord from breaking, make sure to fix it in a place where it will not be subjected to excessive force. Also, avoid pulling the cord hard or bending it forcibly.
Repeated bending radius: R50 or more
Fixed bending radius of Contact Switches: R20 or more - The head cord and output cord should be wired separately from the power line.
(3) Contact Switches Installation
- When attaching/removing the contact point, please use the included dedicated wrench. Be careful not to apply a torque of 0.1 N・m or more to the spindle. This may cause a breakdown. To prevent the contact point from loosening, werecommend using the included spare 2.5 wave washer or a screw lock.
- After fixing the stem, do not apply force in the rotation direction as this may cause a breakdown.
- When mounting, use screws or tightening nuts and be sure to tighten them to the specified torque of Contact Switches. Specified torque: M3 screws: 0.6 N・m Tightening nuts: 1.0 N・m
(4) Contact Switches Other
- Never disassemble, repair, modify, pressurize, deform, or incinerate the main unit.
- When disposing of the product, please treat it as industrial waste.
- If you notice any abnormality, immediately stop using the product and turn off the power.
OMRON Contact Switches Usage Notes
To prevent the product of Contact Switches from becoming inoperable, malfunctioning, or having a negative effect on its performance or equipment, please observe the following:
(1) Installation environment of Contact Switches:
Do not install in the following locations:
- Locations where the ambient temperature exceeds the rated range
- Locations where condensation occurs due to sudden temperature changes
- Locations where the relative humidity exceeds the range of 35 to 85% RH
- Locations where corrosive or flammable gases are present
- Locations with dust, salt, or iron powder
- Locations subject to direct vibration or shock
- Locations where there is splashing of water, oil or chemicals
- Locations with strong magnetic or electric fields (keep 0.5 m or more away from noise sources such as high power relays, high voltage, or high current switches.)
(2) Contact Switches Warm-up
- Immediately after power is turned on, the circuit is not stable, so the measurement value may change gradually.
- Before starting work or operating the product, please check that the functions and performance of this product are working properly.
(3) Contact Switches Maintenance and inspection
- When making any adjustments or removing the device, be sure to turn off the power before starting the work.
- The Contact Switches Do not use thinner, benzine, acetone, or kerosene for cleaning.
- If cutting oil or other substances that become extremely viscous after drying get on the rubber boots, they may not function properly. If they do get on the boots, wipe them off with a cloth soaked in absolute alcohol.
- The rubber boots may deteriorate significantly due to organic solvents, ozone, ultraviolet rays, etc. in the environment in which they are used. In this case, replace the rubber boots periodically (every 6 months to 1 year).
- The rubber boots are coated with grease, and wiping it off may reduce their sliding properties, so be sure to use this product without wiping off the grease.
- The E9NC-TB1 and E9NC-TB3 are coated with oil to prevent corrosion. If you wipe off the oil before use, rust may occur, so please perform regular maintenance. If you use the product with oil on it, please check that the oil does notaffect the measurement before use.
(4) Avoid using the product of Contact Switches underwater, in the rain, or outdoors.
When OMRON Contact Switches Using with Air Attached
Contact Switches (E9NC-TH5LF/E9NC-TH12L/E9NC-TH12LF)
- The air to be sucked in should be dry and the negative pressure should be 0.04 to 0.067 MPa.
- The tube used for the air suction port must have an outer diameter of φ4 mm.
- The Contact Switches spindle is pulled in by air suction.
- If the spindle extrusion speed is fast, the amplifier display may show an error the moment it touches the workpiece.
- In addition, excessive shock may cause the ball retainer inside the bearing to rub, reducing the detection distance. In this case, adjust the spindle speed.
- Fix the sensor head of Contact Switches after attaching the hose elbow. When attaching the hose elbow, hold the sensor head by the L-shaped metal fitting. Do not apply pressure to other parts.
